Located in East Java, this apple of town has a some great place to visit. Has a good land to plant flowers and fruits which make them green. They famous because one of their poduction: Apples, wich are yummy and healthy.

Batu has an center park. it's not really ordinary center park with trees and seat. The park has lots of great this and shining at night. you can walk down and breath freely without pollution. Make your children happy. You can also taste some of cheap and delicious food. It's clean and fresh.

Interesting things also can be found in 'SECRET ZOO'. kind of zoo where you can see and gaze each animal closely. The stunning and efficient structure of building will make you sure that no animal will be missed from your sight. You can but food even people are bustling around with cheap prize. You also can feeding the certain animals and learn about them. The place is really vast and clean, several weird but simple cafes, giving your family some cozy time to rest.

The hotel - Tree Inn - is the most special place to stay. Decorated like a tree, this place is really comfortable and - sure - cheap to pay. Nothing without trees and animals. you will feel like in natural place. Simple and like paradise.

Unique Animals of Indonesia

Fauna in Indonesia’s origin is affected by geographical and geological events in Asia. It is divided by Wallace line – for Asian origin and transition. Webber also divided the east section into two, transition and Australia origin. Three that I want to describe in here is Orangutan, Komodo and Cendrawasih

1. Orangutan

Pongo pygmaeus, is a common animal in Kalimantan (Borneo Island). Full with brown fur, similar with monkey - but more lighter in color. live in a tree of tropical forest and eat fruits. They are include as protected mammals because their place has been logged for bussiness and has been hunt for sell in foreign country.

2. Komodo

live in Komodo Island, as a carnivore, with weight as adult human. Varanus komodoensis live in a land and eat small mammals. Once this reptile used as a symbol in coin of 50 rupiahs in Indonesia and symbol of NTT (Nusa Tenggara Timur). has sharp claw and use their tongue to take a sample of air. Called dragon because their appearance similar to dragon

3. Cendrawasih

Live in papua. beautiful feather and sometimes called as 'heaven's bird'. The male is more colorful than female. It is used to attract the females when marriage season arives. They live in high trees and green forest. Their feather also used as a decoration in hat or spear by tribes of Papua.

Destination Paradise

i have ever came to malang when i was 10 years old. and now, i'm living in here. i never thought to lived in here before, because it's far from my home and i really didn't know anything about malang. since i have friends here, i know many interesting things about malang. the first is about the foods. i never knew about 'tahu telor' before, it's kind of an egg that is mixed with 'tahu' than it's fried. and it's served with such a pasta but it's made by peanut and petis, special food from malang. this food is the great one in malang. the second one is about the people. people in malang are different from jakarta. they are friendly. but, the only thing problem for me is the java language. it's not easy for me to talk freely with them. And the last is about scenery. i have ever visit a watterfall in batu, it's called Cubanrondo. it's charming waterfall and the coldest place i've ever visited in here. but, that's really fun to be there with my friends.

DESTINATION PARADISE

Borobudur Temple is an important place to visit if you're going to Jogja city. A packed city, but not to crowded like Jakarta.

When you see the temple, it was vast and charming. There are many of hindu's temple, but this one is special. some people called it the masterpiece of hidu's temple.

It was built in 8 levels. the 5 lower levels was square and the 3 levels at the top was circle. Each level of the temple give you stories in the walls. Maybe you need a tourguide to tell you about the story in the temple's wall. In the top of the temple, you can see a huge stupa. It's the heart of this temple. This is a very historical place. Beside the historical temple, you can also see a stunning scenery from the temple. You can stroling or gazing in that temple. The climate there was a little hot, but overall it's just amazing. If you came here, you'll promise to yourself that you'll be back again.

Destination Paradise

Bajul Mati beach is one of the unspoilt beach in East Java. It is located on Gedangan sub-district, about 58 km on the south from Malang. To get there, we have to travel across the serpentine mountain. Fortuneately, the road is smooth and wide. But once we get there, all of our efforts is paid. It has stunning view. It is a steep beach without coral, even there is small island in the middle of sea that has 2 estuaries.

Bajul Mati doesn't have vast wave, but it has the biggest wave among other beach in south Malang. On the left of the beach there is Cina cave. The panorama is stunning and charming. you will not be bored gaze down at one of the God creation.

Destination Paradise

Mount Bromo

Mount Bromo is the most beautiful mount in East Java. It's located in Probolinggo District. It takes 3 hours trip from the heart of Malang City to the gate of mount Bromo. Many people usually climb the mount at the middle night so that they can see the sun rise at the morning. Mount Bromo is 2382 meters high, so you must prepare many things before going to this place. You must bring thick jacket, socks, hat, and many more that makes you feel warm at that place, because it 10 degrees up to 0 degree at mount Bromo. You can stay at villa or hotel at National Bromo park. It seems hard to find foods at the night, so i advice you to bring foods for your trip. After you reach the top of the mount, you'll see a stunning view. Your tiring trip will be paid after you see the view. I won't tell you the whole things about Mount Bromo, just prepare yourself, phisique and mental. It is awesome!

Destination Paradise ; Malang

I have been lived in Malang for about 10 years. My favorite place (or street) is street from Veteran Street until Ijen Street. It’s located in the heart of Malang, so we almost use the street to get everywhere in Malang.
The street so Tranquil, but in the rush our the street is packed because along Veteran Street is full of school, from Playgroup until University .

The other Place is alun-alun bunder, one of town square in Malang. It’s nice place to stroll or just sit and chat with friends.

A Montrealer in Malang

I'm originally from Montreal, Canada. Montreal is a great city with many wonderful things to see and do. It's the second largest French speaking city after Paris, and it's often called the Paris of Canada.

Montreal has many cultural and historical sites. It is a multicultural city with delicious food and interesting people. It also is home to many parks, gardens and recreation centers. Overall, it's a great place to visit (or live).

Having said all that about my home city, now I have to talk about Malang. It's very difficult to compare Malang and Montreal. There are completely different so it's not really fair to compare them to each other.

Malang feels like home now. Right now it's the rainy season, so there is a big downpour everyday. In Montreal it's autumn and getting colder and colder as winter creeps in.

The food in Malang is wonderful. It's tasy, inexpensive and fresh. There's so much to eat and drink here - so many things that I'd never even heard of (let alone taste) when I was living in Montreal.

The people in Malang are very friendly. Much friendlier than in my home city. They are quick to smile and even if you make a mistake or do something silly - they rarely get angry.

So overall, I can say that, as a Montrealer, life in Malang is very nice!

The best country

I live in the best country in the world. It called Indonesia

Indonesia is located in South East Asia. It have a lot of island. The primary islands are Java, Sumatra, Borneo, Sulawesi, and West Papua. All of them are beautiful. But the most popular island were not them. It's Bali.

It's a must-see places.

Bali have a unique culture. It's a mixture of Hindu tradition from india and local tradition. So it,s very mistical and religius place. Balinese still keep their tradition even moderisation is growing rapidly.

Beside, Bali is famous for the beauty scenery especialy the beach. There are many beautiful beach and a lot of entertainment places. So, if you want to take a trip. Go to Indonesia!!

Dangdut

Dangdut is popular genre of music in Indonesia which is different from another genre. It's name comes from the sound of Gendang (tabla) which are dang and dut. Originally came from Malay and desert-style Arabic music, modern dangdut is influenced by rock, pop, etc. A dangdut band contains a male or female lead singer and another additional singer (optional) and backed by up to eight instruments such as guitar, tabla, flute, synthesizer, etc. In Indonesia, especially small cities in Java, Dangdut concert always hold on certain events, such as birthday party, wedding party etc. It's a must see concert and if I were you, I'd go there and start dancing. If you have spare time in Indonesia, don't miss it!

Indonesia's Food ; Bizzare yet Delicious

Indonesian really loves to eat. We like eat everything, literally.

A lot of people eat cow and goat meat, not just in Indonesia but also around the world. But the difference is we eat every part of cow’s meat. Like lung, heart, even brain. Maybe it’s weird for foreigner but in Indonesia is so common, it’s like you can find it in every type of food. Believe or not, it’s delicious.

Gulai Kambing, goat meat in soup made of ginger, turmeric, onion, garlic and other spices. It’s easy to find it in every city in Indonesia. Meat that use in gulai kambing is from many part, usually is ribs, brisket, thighs and others. But sometimes they prepare some extra meat if you want add some of them, like eyes, lung and brain.

Not only Gulai Kambing, but also Choto Makasar, Soto, Satay, Rawon and many else that use that meat. It’s similar, just ingredient of each broth is different.

Don’t freak out ! even foods that I said before seem scary (but delicious !) , not all Indonesia’s food like that. Indonesia has one of world’s 50 most delicious food. Rendang is 11th from the list . Rendang is beef with coconut milk with lemongrass, galangal, garlic, turmeric, ginger and chilies. Taste of rendang different depends where you buy it. If you buy in Padang, the taste of rendang is spicier than other city. But their rendang is the best (for me) .

Indonesia's food seems bizzare but i guarantied, it's delicious . you will never regret to taste it .

I'm Sumayyah - aka Maya

Hi everyone! My name is Sumayyah, but in Indonesia I go by 'Maya' - it's easier and shorter. I'm originally from Canada and I've been in Indonesia for about a year and a half.
I teach English in Malang and it's a great place to live.
